'We'll have a race,' said the
tortoise. ''From one end of the wood to the other end.'
Again
the hare laughed loudly. 'That will take me an hour,' said
the hare. 'But it will take you a year!'
Slower
That afternoon all the animals came to watch the race. Some
went to the starting line. Some waited at the finishing
line.
They all wanted the tortoise to win. ‘He’s much
nicer than the hare!’ said the squirrel to the
badger.
‘I hope he wins, too,’ said the badger.
‘But a tortoise is much slower than a hare.’
